That time again. I’m really enjoying these, searching through my work for the snippet I want to use, reading the comments. Fun.

Excerpt from Lunacy and the Vampire.

http://www.evernightpublishing.com/lunacy-and-the-vampire-by-evie-jayne/

My  main characters, Luna and Aveon, didn’t really hit it off to start with.

“Arms up, leech, against the wall,” she said.

He did as she directed, raising them above his head and laying his hands against the bricks. She steeled herself, pulled a wall of detachment around her heart and, quick as lightning, stabbed out. He howled when the knife sliced through his wrist and into the mortar, pinning him to the wall. The sound ripped at her insides. She pulled a second blade from a leg sheath.

“Please don’t.” She drove it through the other wrist anyway. Crimson bloomed around the blade and ran in rivers down his arms.

Welcome Raven.

I’d like to welcome Raven McAllan telling us a little about her work and showcasing her latest offering to the Romance on the Go line, The Girl on the Bus.

So, The Girl on the Bus…

I seem to be setting more and more of my stories in Scotland. And Glasgow? Not the most romantic of cities maybe, but full of history, and dark alleys and hot men in kilts and well… you get the picture?

There’s something about an atmospheric city that gets the pulse racing, be it in a Regency or a contemp. You can imagine hot assignations, dastardly murders and sweet fish and chips in paper romance.

Of course you also need earthy Scotsmen, true Scotsmen, in or out of their kilts, and feisty heroines who would kick as if a Glasgow ned got near them. Great fun.

But, I just have to set some in warmer less midgied climes. After all I keep telling DH all our travels are for research.

But the Girl on the Bus is set in Glasgow…

Here’s the blurb…

Julia ran out on Tay five years ago, so she cannot be the face he sees on the bus. However, when she ends up being the one taking notes at his meeting, he knows he will move heaven and earth to make her his once more.

Will she agree, or will she run again?

*****

And a wee tease

Once inside the room, which as far as Julia could see, was empty except for a bed, Mister T gripped her by the chin. “What is the first thing you thought when you came inside?”

Julia answered him without thinking about it. “Is that all?”

His shout of laughter rumbled through her, and his hand on her hair sent zaps of hot hard arousal to her clit and pussy.

“Well we can’t have that, can we? A disappointed sub. Now I wonder what we should do?”

Going on instinct, Julia knelt awkwardly in front of him—she’d done her research on line—put her hands behind her and bent her head.

“Please, sir.” To her annoyance her voice shook and she cleared her throat. “I want to learn.”

“What, pet? What do you want to learn?”

Julia swallowed. “Whatever you wish to show me, sir.” Then she remembered one of the books she’d read. “Within my safe words.”

He’d laughed. “Clever, pet. What are they and what do they mean?”

“Red, stop now. We may discuss why I’m calling red but until we do its non-negotiable. Yellow, I’m not sure about what’s happening, and maybe we need to discuss it further. And green, oh yes, I’m very happy let’s carry on.”

He crouched in front of her and kissed her nose. “That seems to cover it. Well sub, I’m considered to be best at wax play. Are you willing to let me show you the beauty therein?”

Those words spoken in his velvet voice made her ream coat her pussy and thighs and the hairs on her arms stand up.

“Yes, Sir. Please, Sir.” The salutation seemed so easy to say, and so normal to her, that it rolled of her tongue automatically.

What followed became the most special and mind blowing time of her life. It was all well and good saying no sex, but it had been sexual in its own way.

Tay showed her with both diagrams and pictures what would happen. Then asked her to sign yet more disclaimers, before telling her to shower to remove all lotions and perfumes.

When she’d exited the shower, a tall smiling woman waited for her. Julia blushed. She might not be ashamed of her hourglass figure, but she wasn’t used to flaunting it.

“Master T said would you put this on, please? He reckoned you’d not be happy dressed just in a thong as he’d prefer.” She’d passed a bikini to Julia who looked at it doubtfully. It was so tiny, Julia reckoned she’d be lucky to get her nipple covered by the top, it looked to be an AA cup and she was a DD. The bottom wasn’t much better, but at least it covered her bush.

The other woman, “Call me Callie,” giggled as Julia blushed. The way Callie’s face crinkled up, made her look much more approachable and ten years younger. Julia realized she was around the same age as herself.

“Master T?” Julia asked as she struggled to dress in the bikini without dropping the towel. “Does he ever go mask-less?”

Callie shook her head. “Nope, but he’s so good no one worries. Look, honey, it’s obviously you’re like a newborn babe here. Believe me, no one will bother about your body, except to see the marks of your Sir or Master on it. For hygiene’s sake, if you carry on you’ll shave or wax your pussy, it’s preferred, and you’ll get used to being mainly unclothed. It’s no biggie. Right, you’re playing in private, but I’m dungeon master for you. Master T thought you’d be happier with a woman around.”

The following hour had been eye opening, enlightening, and mind blowing.

“I’m tying you down, pet, for your own safety,” Tay told her. “Color?”

“Green, Sir.” Okay she didn’t know how she felt about not having the chance to move, but then she trusted him to know best. Behind him, Callie leaned against the wall ever watchful. So she did have a get out of jail card.

Once the first drop of wax hit her chest, the intense sting was followed by a flush of arousal so strong Julia almost came there and then. At the stern, “do not come until I say so”, she bit her lip, regulating her breathing instead. She flew. Nothing existed except each soft drop of wax, his quiet praise, and the way she was detached and watching herself flush and blossom.

He tapped her mound gently and spoke in his sex on legs voice. “Fly, pet. Come for me now, Silver, show me how you let go.”

This is an excerpt from my novel Lunacy and the Vampire, published by Evernight Publishing.

Bring it on, Leech. As soon as the thought entered her head he sprang. He moved so fast his body blurred. She darted to the left, but not fast enough. His ice cold hand snagged her waist, and she felt herself being tossed through the air. She heard, rather than saw the door slam shut and twisted her body up from her prone position. In an instant he was on her, shoving her back down onto the bed. One hand fisted her dreads painfully, dragging her head back and to the side as he straddled her hips, using his weight and his other hand on her jaw to hold her in place.

Weekend Warriors 3

SJ Maylee on how it began

I’d like to thank SJ Maylee for being my first debut author and for our chat messages that have encouraged me and given me someone to talk to who understands the in’s and outs of being an author.

SJ has shared with us her journey to publication. She is the first, hopefully not the last.

So thank you and very welcome SJ,

Thank you, Evie for having me here today. I’d like to share with you my journey to publication. It’s a long and tumbling story. From a young age, reading was an escape for me. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had characters in my head and I played around with their stories. Insecurities got in my way and kept me from writing any of it down. A couple years ago, the drive to know my characters and finish their stories became such a bright light that I had no choice but give it a try.

Once I started, I devoured everything I could find on the craft of writing. I’ve never been so hungry for knowledge. Yes, I wanted to write, but I didn’t know anything about how to do it other than what I’d picked up by reading hundreds of books. Fortunately, reading is one of the best teachers. Without knowing it, I’ve been studying the craft all my life. However, this journey is a marathon and not a sprint. Nothing was going to happen overnight. I had to decide for myself over and over again to keep moving forward.

It’s a daunting task to sit and write and the zillion other things that go along with it. Discipline has been my friend and I’m still working on honing my focus and routine. My determination has been my best friend. I haven’t taken a day off of this journey since I started. Besides hard work it does take a certain amount of good luck, good timing, and guts.

Hitting send on a submission is one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. After spending countless hours with a story you care a lot about it and the waiting is the worst. I’ll never forget the day I received my acceptance from Evernight Publishing for TAKING CHANCES. I’ve read that email so many times. I still look at it often. I love that email. It tells my insecurities to be quiet. It’s helping me right now while I wait to hear on what I hope will be my second published story.

I love that I titled my debut TAKING CHANCES, because that’s what I did from day one. I took a chance.

Below I’m sharing a bit about my debut. You’ll find all the details, the blurb, an excerpt, links to where you can buy Taking Chances, a little bit about me, and all the places you can connect with me.

Thank you so much for having me today, Evie.

TAKING CHANCES EXCERPT:

Look at me, Lydia.”

He pushed her. “Why?” She shifted her gaze and hit him with her direct stare.

Thank you. I needed to see your eyes.” He reached out and swiped a lock of hair from her face. He tucked the strand behind her ear, and let his finger drag down her face to her shoulder. All the while his gaze captured hers, not letting go. “How are you this morning?”

I’m okay.”

Okay? Hmm, maybe I should do something to improve your mood? What would you say to that?”

Here?” she gasped and quickly turned to look out the door.

He grabbed hold of her shoulders, lifting her slightly off the floor.

Yes, here.” He brought their bodies together, claimed her lips and swept his tongue through her mouth, awakening her sexual hunger.

She felt wanted. She felt claimed. Images from the night before swam in her mind. Silly challenges from the office mean girl were all forgotten. He set her down and nipped at her lower lip.

We have a lot to do today. Unfortunately we cannot go any further, now.” He stepped back behind his desk as casually as if he’d just greeted the mail man.

But you would want to?” Still looking at the papers on his desk, she didn’t think he heard her. She took a step closer. “You would repeat last night?”

Her words stopped him. His gaze searched her face. Placing his hands on the desk he leaned forward and said, “Lydia, I fully intend to further explore your body and mind. After all, there are a few places I haven’t yet completely inspected.”

Her mind ran through what he had done to her last night, and there was only one place she could think of. Warmth fluttered through her face.

Now, that is a beautiful sight.” He returned to his papers. “I’m going to have to keep thinking of ways to shock you simply to see you blush again.” With the papers properly sorted, his attention returned to her. “Is Gina a problem?”

Gina was a lot of things, but she’d never thought of her as a problem. “I don’t think so.”

Don’t be afraid to put her in her place. She likes that more than she lets on. She’s the type to push so she can be pushed back.”

I hadn’t thought of her that way. Interesting.”

Let me know if she becomes a problem.” His gaze drilled into hers, not letting her escape.

Okay.”

Okay?” His posture remained controlled, but the smirk couldn’t be missed.

She added her own version of the devilish grin, which ignited another blush before she even spoke. “Okay, Sir.”

Trouble.” He stalked towards her and ruthlessly swept his hand under the hem of her skirt to press firmly along her panties. His lips pressed to her ear. “Hot and damp.”

The palm of his hand pressed on her clit, and he bent his knuckles, sending the tips of his fingers past the edge of her panties to drag along her slit.

Be careful what you say to me, sweetheart, or you’ll shatter my control.” With one last drag of his fingers, he pulled away and walked from the room.

S.J. MAYLEE BIO:

S. J. Maylee fell in love with storytelling at a young age and with it came a deep-seated desire for everyone to find their happily ever after. She’s finding the happy endings for her characters one steamy story at a time.

When she’s not reading or writing, you can find her caring for her garden, laughing with her two young sons, or dancing to her husband’s music. She’s a PMP (Project Management Professional), Nia instructor, and coffee addict.

As a writer she has a tendency to break hearts, but she always glues them back together.

Vampires Don’t Sparkle.

In my world, the world of the Dominion, vampires aren’t good. They’re gritty and gory and a little bit cruel.

Image

He heard the whisper of the door swinging open and froze. Human. He could smell it. Human blood and human fear. He heard the heartbeat, fast and panicked, before she came into his line of sight. It was the beautiful, scarred woman, Ravana’s mortal pet. She crept to the cage bars, and hesitated with her hand on the lock. Her blood smelt like temptation itself and Aveon hauled against his chains, fangs bared and growing sharp in his mouth.

“What do you want?” he snarled. She took a step back, then seemed to steel herself.

“I’ve come to help you,” she replied. Aveon barked out a brutal laugh.

“The only help you can give me is running through your veins, little mortal.” He saw her flinch. He was being cruel, but he didn’t care. She may have been a slave or a pet, but she was still Ravana’s creature. She was part of his sickness. If he had to kill her to get out of here, he would. Hell, he would kill her even if he didn’t have to. Just for the blood, and for the satisfaction of taking something away from the vampire king.

Except from Lunacy and the Vampire.

From my current work in process.

In this scene the prisoner Kainan is threatened by my Hero. This scene is written in present tense to indicate the strangeness that Kai is experiencing as his body has been bonded to another entity to create a sentient zombie like creature called a revenant.

Cade’s chest swells, his lips peel back from fangs that have grown long and sharp. Kai swallows and holds himself still. It is hard not to flinch or to lash out with his unrestrained fist. Those big fangs are poised over his throat ready to strike, Cade’s breath huffs against his skin. If Cade thinks he isn’t sincere in his surrender or if the bonding instinct is riding the big vampire too hard then Kai’s in a shitload of trouble.

He clenches his teeth so hard it feels like his jaw bone will snap. Waiting for Cade to strike is a special kind of hell, but he supposes it’s nothing less than he deserves.

“Cade, you need to back the fuck off. Now,” Matthias says.

Visiting me today is the talented Jessica Jayne. We share more than a last name, we share a passion for sexy men and across the tracks romance.

Please welcome Jessica Jayne and her latest release; Board Approved – Taking Advantage, Book 2 by Jessica Jayne

1376926_357497197717861_783866067_n

Thanks so much to Evie Jayne for hosting me today and letting me introduce you all to book 2 of the Taking Advantage series, Board Approved. This series focuses on three men in their late thirties/early forties that sit together on the board of directors for Advantage Insurance Company. They are all at the top of their careers but their love lives could use a boost. Board Approved collides Greg Snow’s big legal world with that of Tessa Mills’s world of inner peace and yoga. It’s a fun ride!

Blurb:

After his divorce, Greg Snow dedicated his life to his work as a corporate attorney in a large law firm and as a member of the board of directors of Advantage Insurance Company. He liked it that way… at least that’s what he thought until Tessa Mills entered his life.

Growing up with an alcoholic mother and never knowing her father, Tessa Mills has not had an easy life. And her relationship decisions have been less than stellar. But she’s finally making a life for herself and running her own business – a yoga studio. It’s her saving grace and that’s all she needs… until Greg Snow turns her world upside down.

Tessa and Greg have a strong attraction, but is it enough to overcome all their differences?

Excerpt: “I don’t want to seem like I am ungrateful for what I have.  I’ve worked hard for it.  Very hard.  And…”  Before she knew what was happening, Greg’s hand palmed the back of her head and pulled her into a kiss that sent her head spinning.  His lips were firm yet soft to the touch and he moved them expertly over her own.  His goatee tickled her skin in a lascivious way that made her wonder what it would feel like at other spots on her body.  His tongue flicked out over her lips and Tessa was unable to stifle the moan that rose up her chest.  He took that as the opportunity to move further and pushed his tongue between her lips.  Oh sweet Jesus, he tasted fantastic!  He tasted like caramel coffee.  She could get lost in his taste… in his kiss.  His experience was evident as he licked into her mouth, exploring every crevice.  His hand flexed at the back of her head before sliding down to the nape of her neck and caressing her there.   She’d never been kissed so thoroughly, so sensuously.  Her panties dampened as he took the kiss deeper and her hands gripped his shirt tightly as if it were the only way for her to keep from melting into the seat.

Beep!  Beep!  Startled back to reality by the cars honking behind them, Tessa pushed back from the kiss.  She had been so wrapped up in her verbal dribble that she hadn’t even recognized that they had been stopped at the light just before the bridge.  And then his kiss threw her into a tailspin.  She’d completely lost track of where she was.  She came to find out she was making out at a traffic light with a man she barely knew, and she was struggling to catch her breath after the make out session.

“You’d better go,” she whispered.  She could feel the blush once again spread over her face.  He looked at her closely, studying her.  Another horn honked and his hand fell from the back of her neck and rested on her knee.  He gave her a little squeeze and she watched as his lips quirked up into a gorgeous smile.

“I’ve been wanting to do that since the moment I laid eyes on you,” he said, roughly.  “And truth be told, I can’t wait to do it again.”  Tessa inhaled sharply at his words and the desire behind them.   He glanced over at her and smiled.  His grey eyes were darker than they had been earlier, and she wondered if this was the look she’d read countless times about in all the romance novels she adored.  “Where to, Tessa?” he asked.  His question brought her back to the present.

Author Bio:

I am a born and raised small town Ohio girl, who moved to the Sunshine State after graduating from college. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English because I could not imagine doing anything else but reading and writing. It is such a pleasure to be able to share all the stories in my head!

In the journey of life, I also became a wife and a mother of three children. So, life is always an adventure. But the love of writing has never died.

My favorites: I love to read and write… obviously! But I also enjoy all sports, especially college football and the Ohio State Buckeyes! Go Steelers! Go Rays! I LOVE to travel… LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to travel. And I love sharing my love to travel with my children. I love to drink Teavana teas! I love a good glass of wine, especially if it comes from a bottle made by the FOOLS wine club… yep, I’m a member of that! I love hanging out with my family and my friends! Big fan of music, but love nothing better than putting on my jean shorts, tank top, cowboy boots and hat and watching Tim McGraw belt it out! I’m a sucker for a cowboy hat!
